Imaging

Medical imaging refers to techniques and processes used to create images of various parts of the human body for diagnostic and treatment purposes within digital health. Medical imaging also establishes a database of normal anatomy and physiology to make it possible to identify abnormalities. Imaging is a specialized branch of medicine that diagnoses injury or disease using a variety of imaging tools.

Huggins Hospital uses the most advanced diagnostic and interventional imaging procedures available including:

Bone Density Screening (DEXA) — an easy, quick procedure that employs X-rays to determine the health and density of bones.

CT (Computed Tomography) Scan — a painless way to see what’s going on inside body tissues.

Echocardiography — an ultrasound examination of the heart muscle.

Fluoroscopy — an X-ray procedure that allows real-time observation of an organ functioning.

Mammography — an advanced, accurate way to assess breast health. Huggins Hospital uses the MammoPad® breast cushion to ensure a warm and comfortable mammogram.

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) a method of producing finely detailed images of almost every body part by using magnet technology.

Nuclear Medicine — imaging that uses a nuclear isotope to study cardiac, bone, and organ health.

PACS Unit - Picture Archiving Communication System provides electronic data that is highly reliable, eliminates the need for film, and transmits and stores images in a manner that helps analysis and allows the data to be shared among health care providers.
