Nuclear Medicine

Assessing health on the level of the cell

Nuclear medicine is a sophisticated diagnostic procedure in which small amounts of radioactive substances are injected and traced as they move through your body’s cells. Use of these special pharmaceuticals allows a technologist to observe what’s happening in the body on the cellular and even molecular level.

Nuclear medicine is commonly used for such things as cardiac stress tests, bone scans, thyroid studies, lymph examinations, gallbladder assessments, and more.

Huggins Hospital is pleased to have on its staff, certified nuclear medicine technologists who have many years of experience in this cutting-edge field. If you’d like to know more about Nuclear Medicine examinations, please call our Medical Imaging Department at 603.569.7527.
