Rehabilitation Services for Pain Management

If you suffer from chronic or acute pain, your healthcare provider may refer you to a physical or occupational therapist at Huggins Hospital or Back Bay Rehabilitation for pain management. After a comprehensive evaluation, your therapist will develop a plan that will improve your capabilities, increase flexibility and strength and decrease pain. Your treatment may include techniques such as:

  • Therapeutic massage
  • Craniosacral therapy (a gentle form of touch therapy)
  • Feldenkrais (movement therapy that treats both body and mind)
  • Myofascial release (massage that reduces pain, increases range of movement, and balances the body)
  • Water therapy

Education, exercises, and anti-inflammatory treatments may be used as well, including heat and ice, ultrasound and other advanced techniques. Whatever the treatment, your plan of care will be tailored to your needs to help you manage your pain and feel better.

Through our specialized program, more people of all ages can lead productive, enjoyable lives and avoid complications associated with chronic pain. For more information, please call Back Bay Rehabilitation at 603.569.7565 or e-mail BackBay@hugginshospital.org.
