MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging)
Space age technology for an accurate diagnosis
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is commonly used to evaluate or diagnose strokes, brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, joint injuries, and many other diseases and conditions.
It’s a painless procedure that does not require radiation to gather the needed information. Instead, MRI uses a large magnet that interacts with hydrogen atoms found in the water that occurs naturally in the human body.
This interaction generates high-quality, finely-detailed pictures that can be manipulated by sophisticated computer software. The resulting multi-dimensional images provide an amazingly accurate look at what’s happening inside almost any part of the body.
Huggins Hospital is pleased to be able to offer this advanced technology to our community. And, in contrast to larger institutions, our Medical Imaging Department can usually schedule your MRI examination within a week of request.
For more information, talk with your health care provider, or contact the Medical Imaging Department at 603.569.7529.
