Lymphedema Therapy

An effective way to manage swelling

Lymphedema is an accumulation of lymphatic fluid that causes swelling, most often in the arms or legs. It can develop at any time during a person’s life, but can also be the result of surgery, radiation, infection, or trauma. Regardless of the cause, though, the result is the same: an abnormal amount of protein-rich fluid collects in affected parts of the body, creating swelling, interfering with wound healing, and causing bacterial infections.

Lymphatic therapists use various techniques to minimize swelling. They may measure and fit you for compression garments, perform massage, or teach you exercise and self-management techniques that will help you take control of your health and feel better.
