Huggins Hospital announces new Cancer Care program
Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, NH, is pleased to announce an important and essential addition to healthcare in the Eastern Lakes Region — the Huggins Hospital Cancer Care & Infusion Center.
For years, the community has faced the challenge of traveling long distances for cancer treatment. But now, community members can access expert, compassionate cancer care right next door with chemotherapy treatments at Huggins Hospital.
“This is more than just a new service,” said Stacey Savage, MSN, RN, Chief Nursing Officer at Huggins Hospital. “It is a commitment to our community’s health and a source of support and comfort. We are honored to offer this service and stand beside our patients every step of the way.”
Huggins Hospital’s cancer care will initially focus on lung, breast, prostate and gastrointestinal cancers, with plans to expand over time. Additionally, Huggins Hospital’s Cancer Care & Infusion Center offers hematology treatments for blood disorders and infusion services for many different medical needs.
Huggins Hospital welcomes their cancer program’s Physician Medical Director from Mass General Brigham, Dr. Ahmad Daniyal (Dan) Siddiqui, and he is excited to be working with the Huggins Hospital team.
“I’m truly honored to be part of the team at Huggins Hospital and to contribute to this important new cancer care service,” said Dr. Siddiqui. “The dedication of the staff here and their expertise makes Huggins Hospital an exceptional place for patient care. I look forward to caring for this community.”
Huggins Hospital is dedicated to providing local access to expert care. With a devoted team, including Dr. Siddiqui and oncology-trained nursing staff, Huggins Hospital is committed to delivering personalized treatment in a setting patients can trust.
Local access to cancer care can help reduce the financial, emotional and mental strain of long-distance travel for patients and their loved ones who often need to travel for treatment multiple times per week.
"Bringing cancer care to Huggins Hospital is a monumental step forward for our community,” said Barry Gendron, DO, MBA, Chief Medical Officer at Huggins Hospital. “Our goal is to provide quality, personalized care, close to home. A diagnosis of cancer can be overwhelming and we want our community members to know they are not alone. We are here to help guide and support them as they navigate the journey.”
