Peter Congelosi, MD

Peter Congelosi, MD is a surgeon at Wolfeboro General Surgery. Dr. Congelosi earned his undergraduate degree from Cornell University and his Medical Degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY. He completed his residency in General Surgery at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, earning the position of Chief Resident.

During his residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Dr. Congelosi’s research interests centered around electronic communication of patient health information and patient experience. He presented his research at multiple national meetings including the Academic Surgical Congress and the AcademyHealth Annual Research Meeting in Washington D.C. in 2022. He also wrote an editorial on health information transparency for General Surgery News which was published in May of that same year.

Dr. Congelosi has a passion for educating others, always striving to share knowledge and create a supportive environment where everyone feels empowered to learn and grow. During residency, he earned the Golden Scalpel Award for Medical Student Teaching and later won the Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award. The following year he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society by his peers and medical student mentees.

Dr. Congelosi resides in Alton and when he’s not at work, he enjoys trail running, baseball and stand-up comedy.
