Huggins Hospital raises awareness of breast cancer and provides revolutionary 3-D Mammography
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month and the key to survival is early detection. Once a lump is felt in the breast, the cancer could be in an advanced stage. When a small, malignant lump is found through mammography instead, physicians can then treat the cancer early. A mammogram can be the single most important detection tool available for catching breast cancer in its early stages, when it’s easiest to treat. Huggins Hospital offers the latest technology to detect breast cancer, 3-D mammography. The 3-D mammography screening is a revolutionary diagnostic tool designed for early breast cancer detection. It provides greater visibility for the radiologist so he or she can gain a better understanding of your breast tissue during the screening and the confidence to reduce the need for follow-up imaging.
On October 21, Huggins Hospital employees wore pink and took their awareness efforts outside in a Remembrance, Support & Awareness Walk around Huggins Hospital. The walk represented the employees’ dedication to keeping the community healthy through education, health care and support.
